I Broke My New Year Resolution!! Uh-oh..

Haha, I skipped my Principles of Genetics lecture today. Supposed to go for every single lectures and tutorials this year. Wellx, I had to register for my elective (well, to snatch them in fact). I saw a vacancy for comm studies and pyschology before I went to bed. =( They were gone before 930am, way before the time the server opens again. Hm, I had quite an eye-opener experience. I realised that many people are waiting to snatch their subjects once the server starts working. OMG.. Damm frightening. Luckily I managed to snatch one of my electives, Mind Over Stress. Hee~

Mind Over Stress's lecture was interesting. Haha, basically the second lecture is about the power of thoughts. Yup. Haha. Let me cite u examples from the lecture.

1)During the second world war, the Nazis sometimes kill the Jews by hanging them by their arms, blindfolding them and slit them somewhere near the vein or artery and let them drip to their death. However, sometimes the Nazis nv slit them. They just blindfolded those Jews, used the back of the knife to 'slit' them and placed a bucket under a tap for the dripping blood sound. There were no wounds, no cuts. Yet the Jews died the very next day. This created the impression that they were being cut when they weren't, and they were under the impression that they were dying slowly.

2)Wellx, a group of woman were told that they had cancer and the only way to battle the illness was through chemotherapy. They went for the "talk" before the "chemotherapy" to help them to get mentally prepared. Haha, like they'll lose hair and stuff. They were given those harmless drugs without side effects instead. However they still lost their hair over the "treatment".

Quite interesting la, haha, because it was like taking medicine with pyschology. Haha, yup, we learnt about migraines and stuff, together with T-cells etc.. OMG, it was better than what I had imagined. Haha, I wanted to be a doctor. Haha. Looks like the path to the carreer is getting further and further away from me.

Okok, must think positively! Haha, because the mind affects everything. Haha, it affects heart attacks and high blood pressure too. Plus I took the psychological test during lecture, and found out that I belong to type A people, ahaha, anxious and hostile. Dammit, I tend to get high blood pressure or what easily. Wa lao.

Hm, the last part of the lecture was on split personalities. Pretty cool.. Hehe..

So, in summary, I am going to listen to more mozart music and let myself think that I am getting smarter!! Haha, I think I'll look at Jolin's or Hebe's photo everyday and think that I look like one of them. Who knows one day I will look like one of them!!! Haha, the power of the mind!! Woo~
