Harry Snady, M.D., Ph.D. is a research scientist and gastroenterologist with busy clinical practices opened in 1984 in New York City and New Jersey. He is the founder and medical director of EUS Imaging, P.C., a New York-based practice specializing in the use of endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) for the diagnosis and treatment planning of gastrointestinal disorders. As both a physician in private practice and a scientist involved in numerous research and outcomes studies, Dr. Snady is committed to advancing patient care as well as medical science.
Dr. Snady is one of the few experts in the evolving multidisciplinary field of endoscopic ultrasonography, having pioneered the technique in the United States since its approval by the FDA in 1988. Worldwide, he is the first endosonographer to provide EUS services in the setting of a private office facility, permitting attentive, individualized care in a more convenient and personal atmosphere. In particular, he is internationally recognized for his expertise in the use of EUS in the diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic cancer. He recently reported the results of an eight-year scientific study that found that a combined radiation and chemotherapy treatment regimen could significantly improve the prognosis of patients with this deadly form of cancer. His high rate of accuracy in diagnosis of esophageal, gastric and rectal disorders and tumors, in addition to pancreatic cancer, have contributed to his reputation as one of the world's top endosonographers.
Dr. Snady received his Ph.D. in biochemical pharmacology -- the study of how medicines work and affect the body -- and his M.D. from New York University. He continued his medical training with post-doctoral appointments at Mount Sinai Medical Center. He is board certified in gastroenterology as well as internal medicine. He has served as president of the New York Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, is a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterolgy and has been a member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy since 1985, serving on its research and program committees. He serves on the editorial board for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, the leading endoscopy journal worldwide.
He lectures, teaches and writes journal articles and chapters in medical books on his techniques and his clinical research. He is currently on the teaching staff of several New York Medical Centers including North Shore in Manhasset, and Beth Israel, Mount Sinai, St. Luke's-Roosevelt, and St. Vincent's in Manhattan. He is also affiliated with numerous other New Jersey hospitals such as Palisades General Medical Center, Meadowlands Hospital, Bon Secours Health Systems and Christ Hospital.
Dr. Snady has authored or co-authored dozens of original research articles, invited articles and book chapters for professional journals and texts, and has lectured extensively. He is also a regular contributor to major medical meetings in the field of gastroenterology through presentations, abstracts, invited lectures and poster presentations
